am i forgetting something…?

i have been having a bout of forgetfulness lately. i pretty sure it’s because my brain is running in five hundred different directions. i lost my klean kanteen water bottle last week. i lost my ruler yesterday. and i am hoping that i don’t loose anything tomorrow. i rush from place to place everyday so i save time. but obviously all this rushing is taking a toll. :/

when i first went to spain, i noticed right away that the pace of life is much slower there, even in a metropolitan city like madrid. i felt so much more relaxed and the days seemed to last forever. i promised myself that i would carry at least a bit of that slowness back to america and integrate it into my life here. unfortunately, it seems almost impossible. everything here is busybusybusy, rushrushrush. headdown, walkfast, getthereasap. and honestly, i really don’t like it very much. i really don’t think it’s good for us. so that’s why i’ve decided instead of just giving up and going along with the pace, i am going to be that obnoxious person that walks really slow on the sidewalk, who gets passed by everyone.
well i won’t be like that all the time. i do have a lot of stuff to do and i don’t have a schedule that allows me to relax all the time. but i do think that it’s really important that there are a few things that people should take the time to enjoy. for me it’s:
– my nightly cup of tea
– cooking and eating my dinner
– walking to school (unless i’m late of course!)
– my guilty pleasure: a mexican telenovela called niƱos ricos, pobres padres haha
– yoga
i’m going to promise myself to take my time and slow down a little; it’s so easy to get wrapped up in everything, especially when you have classes, homework, work and friends to think about. try it. maybe there will be some surprising results!
