Topic of Analysis Paper 2

The person that I am going to interview in-depth is named “Bruce” because we
have known each other for more than fifteen years. After graduating from a Chinese university in 2009, he decided to come to America not only for enriching his horizon and experiencing different culture in a highly democratic and free country through pursuing master degree of computer engineering at Northeastern University, but also for working in America, because working experience is important and helpful for him to get the Permanent Resident Card and live in America. He is now 24 years old and has been working as a computer engineer at a company called Acme in Boston for over one year.

According to the U.S.Census Bureau, the population of Chinese immigrants numbered approximately 3.8 million by 2011. The Chinese American community is the largest overseas Chinese community in North America, closely followed by the Chinese communities in Canada and Mexico. What’ more, most of Chinese people are highly educated, so they work as white collar professionals, salaried professionals whose work is largely self-directed in management, and related occupations such as engineering, medicine, investment banking, law, and academia.

Analysis Paper 1—–Indra Nooyi

Yang Lan One On One

The TV talk-show “Yang Lan On on On” is pretty welcomed in China for interviewing a large number of celebrities domestically and abroad . I pick up one interviewee to describe—-Indra Nooyi , who comes from India trying her best to realize her values from a blue collar to a top manager in the manly mastered business industry.

Since Indra took the helm six years ago,  PepsiCo has done a pretty good job.  However,  she also had to meetand overcome an urgent lifestyle-disease trend : obesity was moving beyond its role as the West’ s worst health problem and becoming a concern in emerging markets.  For a company that urges billions of people to consume ever more snack foods and soft drinks, that’s a problem. With the severe difficulties and weak US economy, Indra observes “ Courage in leadership is very difficult, especially for a woman from foreign country ”. So she persuaded the board of directors and some of them still doubt her to hire a previously pharmaceutical research director and chief of the Diabetes, Endocrine, and Nutritional Trials unit of the Mayo Clinic,  and asked him to build a big new program which could take sugar, salt, and fat out of products as much as possible, in addition,  she set foot in producing new healthy and nutritional foods and beverages. Those efforts show that it has been growing, earning high profit margins to the company and stockholders.

After watching the legendary woman’s story,  I am impacted and
encouraged by her experiences and spirits. I believe everyone can achieve his dreams if you have courage and faith.
