For my analysis paper 1, I have chosen to write about Emily Prentiss from Criminal Minds. Criminal Minds
is American police procedural television program and follows a team of profilers from the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) based in Quantico, Virginia. The BAU is part of the FBI National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime. The show differs from many procedural dramas by focusing on the
criminal rather than the crime itself.
Special Agent Emily Prentiss is shown to be an extremely competent, level-headed agent.
She is not as affected by the nightmares that come with the job and manages to
keep her cool in hostile confrontations. She is also shown to put herself in
the line of fire. The significance of her character shows that she is strong
and fearless, and breaks the stereotypical norms of women in today’s society.
