Learning Circles

Learning Circles are small communities of 6-12 colleagues who have an interest in exploring a particular teaching and learning topic. The Learning Circle is an opportunity for faculty (full- and part-time) and staff to form community across disciplines.

While they are similar to Faculty & Professional Learning Communities, they meet less frequently. A typical Learning Circle will hold three or four one-hour sessions over the course of a semester.

Learning Circles will be held in the CTSE, and they can be facilitated or co-facilitated by the CTSE Director or by faculty or staff volunteers. Because each member of the learning circle, including the facilitator(s), is a learner, participants are encouraged to share, listen, and interact with one another.

A Learning Circle can be formed around a particular book, problem, instructional strategy, project or topic. The CTSE will purchase books and supply tea and coffee and occasional snacks.
