As a first step, consider how you might adapt your activities for HyFlex, remote, hybrid, or online teaching. Ask yourself:

  1. What are the learning objectives for the activities? In other words, what do I expect that students would understand or be able to do as a result of engaging in these activities?
  2. What online activities are well aligned with the learning goals I have in mind?

Identify topics, activities, and assessments

When designing your course, consider the following:

  • Do the resources (topics, activities, and assessments) identified clearly meet the goals and objectives of the course?
  • Do the online resources promote active learning?
  • Do the online resources help me to assess learning?
  • Do the online resources include clear instructions for students?
  • Do I need to create additional supplemental materials to help students learn about the online resource?
  • Would this online resource work better if paired with another online resource?
  • Is this the best online resource I can find to help my students learn this material?

    Provide access to materials

Make sure all required material necessary is directly available online, in Canvas, and provide clear instructions on how to access it. Consider the following:

    • Are the online resources accessible for all students?
    • Are the online resources easy for students to find and navigate?

    Familiarize yourself with resources

Familiarize yourself with the resources and services from the ITS Service Desk, Media Services, Office of Disability Services, and the CTSE.

    Determine communication method

Let students know how you will communicate with them (i.e., University email or Canvas announcements.)
