Student Canvas Support

How will students learn how to use Canvas?

Instructors are encouraged to invite their students to log into Canvas a week prior to the beginning of classes.  Once logged in, students can opt to self-enroll in the Let’s Canvas course. Let’s Canvas is an online, asynchronous course that provides an overview of essential information about how to use Canvas.

NOTE: Suffolk students who previewed Let’s Canvas shared that the course takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete. Students can also return to the course anytime to browse answers to FAQs. We invite faculty and staff to enroll in Let’s Canvas to preview the course.

Who should students contact if they need technical assistance?

Instructors are encouraged to illustrate to students how they plan to use Canvas in their course(s).  If students need additional support, they can email servicedesk@suffolk.edu with their specific and detailed questions.

Troubleshooting Commons Issues

I am unable to see or access my course in Canvas.

The Canvas courses are made available by way of the Student Information System (SIS).  Faculty must be assigned to their courses to have access to them.  If you are unable to see your course in Canvas, review your All Courses list to determine if you are enrolled.  If you still do not see your course in Canvas, contact your Department Chair or your School administrative assistant.

Please refer to this guide: Canvas – Accessing Your All Courses List

My students are unable to see or access their course in Canvas.

Students need to be enrolled in your course(s) and the course must be open in order for students to see their courses. If students are unable to see your course in Canvas, ask them to review their All Courses list to determine if they are enrolled.  If they are enrolled, you have opened your course, and students still do not see their course, ask the students to send an inquiry to servicedesk@suffolk.edu with a subject line: Unable to see my Canvas course (course number, section, faculty member).
We will be adding more questions throughout the rollout process.

Additional Questions: email ctse@suffolk.edu.
