SEARCH National Conference-Brittney Keophoxay #4

Today was the first SEARCH (Southeast Asian Restoring Community Hope) National Conference.  It was great meeting all these leaders and professionals.  Each panelist discussed topics about basic needs, health, policy and advocacy, education, and cultural awareness among our community.  I really like national conferences because it’s one of the few times I go up to people and shake their hands to say, “Hi, I’m Brittney, nice to meet you.”  I collected plenty of business cards and I surely will get in touch with them sometime soon.  Many offered me internship opportunities and I think it’s great being just a first year student.  I think I might want to look into the Political Science major at Suffolk University.

Nathan Miller Hall

BY:KEVIN VEGA

This one is more for the Commuter Students that dont live on campus!

I have a Friend that Lives in Nathan Miller Hall and well he invited me one day and we went to the dining hall. First of all it was really nice and different from any other dining hall I have seen and convinient being in the building itself. But the part that amazed me was the food they have is so good! My friend recommended me a Chicken finger wrap with bacon and Cheddar cheese and a side of crispy Curly fries!.The wrap was the best I have ever had, So if your a commuter and have a firend tht Live in a Hall make sure you visit and try to go the dining halls its awesome and plus you get to hang out with many of the students that do live here so its sort of like a socializing opportunity for you as well

Aquarium

BY: KEVIN VEGA

If your not originally from Boston I recommend taking a trip to the New England Aquarium located at

1 Central Wharf, Boston, MA 02110, I got to go with my scholarship seminar group as part of a cutural dversity experience and we chose to go to the aquarium. It is a great place to just  lose some stress and have fun looking at aquatic animals. There are many exhibits hwre studnets can come and actually learn a couple of things about the aqua marine life. I even got to touch a shark which was EPIC! haha but yeah overall if you have the money and time deffinately worth going and seeing new things around in Boston!

Brown Sugar Cafe– Rachael Medeiros

I recently visited this restaurant with some of my family members. We always enjoy dining out, so my father went on the well known website, The Zagat, and found this little thai cuisine. And might I say, it was delicious! We first ordered crab rangoons and they were amazing, being one of my favorite foods I find it particularly hard to enjoy every different batch I experience from different restaurants. For my main course, I devoured the Thai Fried Rice, it had an authentic fried rice with chicken, shrimp, egg, onions, broccoli and tomatoes, some of the best Thai food I have ever had! Some of the other dishes ordered was the Spicy Pad Thai and the regular Pad Thai, which my step mother and father said were also magnificent. I would recommend it to anyone that likes to eat Thai cuisine or is interested in trying it for the first time! It is right in the center of the Boston University campus if you go on the “B” Boston College, green line, and get off at the Babcock street station you will be right in front of the restaurant… Enjoy!

Thinking Cup – Majed

Thinking cup, a coffee bar located on 165 Tremont street. This was one of the first places I’ve been to with my friends when I was taking English courses when I first came to Boston. I used to go there with my friends everyday after our classes to hang out, have some coffee and study. It’s also a great place to meet new people, since many students from all over the world go there to chill or study. I still go there but not as often, to meet with my friends who are all busy with their studies, and catch up and enjoy a nice cup of coffee.

Harbor Shot – Ronie

Harbor Shot

Walking from south station after leaving a friend I stubbled on this beautiful contrast of colors.  It was a nice warm day here in Boston so I decided to walk back home and take a few different routes just to see different things.  When I spotted this contrast of the rich red and the deep blue, i took out my phone and snipped this picture.  the way the sun hit it made the colors really pop!  i did some edits with snapseed an app i have to crisp the colors and sharpen the water but i have to thank the good timing to this one.  Beautiful scene at the boston harbor and must for everyone that wants to come and layback and watch the boats come in and out.

Fire+Ice – Samantha

Fire+Ice is a great restaurant right off Boylston. Every Monday it is $10 all you can eat college night! I have gone a couple times since I’ve been in Boston. It is a great experience and the food is delicious. There is everything from pasta to a bunch of different seafoods. The way it works is you walk to different stations where they have bowls of meats, seafood, vegetables, sauces, and pastas. You bring the bowl of the different veggies, meats, etc. to this huge circular hot iron where the chefs actually cook the food for you. It is a fun place to go with friends and the music they play is perfect for karaoke. I sang and ate all night.

Espresso Royale Caffe-Sofia Bruno

Espresso Royale is a caffe located at 286 Newbury street.  The baristas here are great and really know how to make a cup of coffee.  If you prefer tea they have a variety of loose leaf teas to choose from.  Espresso Royale gets fresh bagels in daily along with an assortment of baked goods.  What truly sets this coffee shop apart from the rest is its unique and relaxed atmosphere and dedication to its customers.  Outdoor seating at street level is available on nice days making it the perfect place to relax while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Sweet Cupcakes – Anicka Galipeau

It’s always caught my eye. The bright cupcakes sitting in the window, almost calling my name inside. The sugar coated cookies sat in heaps on silver platters, and glazed strawberries rest on top of fluffy, chocolate cakes. The first time I passed it, the doors were locked and all the lights were turned off, hiding the sweets inside. Recently however, the whole shop was brightly lit up, and I could see the assortment of delights, from pink cake pops to cupcakes suffocated by sprinkles. With no money in my pocket, I was forced to disappointedly leave the shop without a taste of the tempting desserts. Even though I have never tried the desserts from “Sweet” I would recommend you at least take the time to see what it has to offer. The vintage feel and ridiculously enticing cupcakes, makes it almost impossible to walk out empty handed!
