Umai Sushi- Newbury St,

Tonight I ate at this delicious sushi restaurant on Newbury St. and wanted you all to know about it! The restaurant is called Umai Sushi can be found on 224 Newbury St. which is just a few doors down from the Zara store. My friend and I both ordered two different kinds of rolls and shared them with each other. I definitely recommend the spicy salmon tempura flake roll, teriyaki chicken roll, filet mignon roll, and the tuna tempura flake roll.

I apologize for the blurry images, we were in a big hurry to eat our food because it looked so good (and we were starving)!

Washington Center for Internships

Since 1978, Suffolk has been sending students to Washington for full-time, academic-credit internships through our partnership with The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars. Internships are available in all fields of study – Government, certainly, but also Arts, Criminal Justice, History, Science, Finance, Journalism – and, in fact, anything else. Students receive 16 credits for either the fall or spring semester, and 12 credits for the summer. Students retain any financial aid they may have, and some additional scholarships are available through The Washington Center.

Josh Bartell, a representative from The Washington Center will be visiting our campus all day on Wednesday, October 10. He and I will hold an information session at 6 PM in the large conference room on the 10th floor of 73 Tremont.

Espresso Royale Caffe-Sofia Bruno

Espresso Royale is a caffe located at 286 Newbury street.  The baristas here are great and really know how to make a cup of coffee.  If you prefer tea they have a variety of loose leaf teas to choose from.  Espresso Royale gets fresh bagels in daily along with an assortment of baked goods.  What truly sets this coffee shop apart from the rest is its unique and relaxed atmosphere and dedication to its customers.  Outdoor seating at street level is available on nice days making it the perfect place to relax while enjoying a cup of coffee.

College Fest!

So this past weekend was College Fest. A place where there are a plethora of booths offering free stuff. There were booths that had fake mustaches, to free energy drinks, free tickets to any show ( I got mine for the Cirque du Soleil), free T-shirts, laundry detergent, and much more. I loved the friendly energetic atmosphere of it all.  The musical performance were awesome, the people were awesome, the free stuff also awesome. My least favorite part was on Day 2 of the event that i got ambushed by the scary monsters from Canobie Lake Park’s Spooktacular thing or whatever(shown in picture). Overall it was a fun day. There is something similar to it at Fenway Park coming up soon and it’s free! I’ll keep you posted on when that is.

They were all there. ALL OF THEM. and they almost made me cry.

Sofia Bruno

hello!

My name is Sofia Bruno and I am from Winchester Massachusetts, a suburb north of Boston.  I went to a small catholic high school in Peabody MA and participated in a few clubs as well as played on the varsity tennis team.  Aside from tennis I love spending time outdoors, especially the beach when the weather is nice enough.   I am living in an off campus apartment with friends and so far love being in the city.  I’m look forward to getting to know everyone better!

Max Brenner Restaurant – Majed

Max Brenner is definitely my favorite restaurant in Boston, not because of the food they serve, but because of the delicious chocolate desserts they offer. The interior design of the restaurant is amazing; there are jars filled with different kinds of chocolates stacked on shelves, the lights are dimmed, and it’s spacious. Another thing that caught my attention is that there were pipes that seemed like they were made out of chocolate, though I’m not sure it’s possible it’s made out of chocolate. Another thing about the restaurant that attracts a lot of people is the smell; when you first open the doors and walk in the restaurant, a strong scent of chocolate breeze hits and makes you drool for sweets. Whenever I go in there and take a breath of that chocolate scent I feel like I’m inside Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.

They have a lot to choose from on the menu, though I usually go there solely for the chocolate pleasure. I haven’t tried the whole menu, but I know they serve plates like burgers, pizza, pasta, panini, and salads. Overall, their food is not the best I’ve tried but still enjoyable. Let’s move on to the chocolate delights. What can I say? They have a variety of desserts like ice cream, chocolate cakes, crepes, fondue and milkshakes. Now, I haven’t had the chance to order and try all the sweets, but most of the sweets, if not all, are pleasing to the mouth. My favorite one is the Melting Chocolate Truffle Cake, it’s served with a vanilla ice cream and a shot of chocolate milkshake.

The prices are a bit high for a college student, but it wouldn’t hurt to go there once in a while. It’s open until midnight during the weekdays, but on the weekend it’s open later. I go there a lot with my friends, and have a good time. I love the place, and I recommend Max Brenner to anyone who is a fan of chocolate.

It’s located at 754 Boylston Street, in the most desirable neighborhood of Boston, the Back Bay.

Temple Street Fair

So I didn’t really think i was gonna find something to join at the Temple Street Fair, but i was wrong. I came across the table for Sigma Alpha Epsilon. So now I’m going to Rush Week activities for a fraternity. I’ve always wanted to join one and like the idea of having brothers who care about you no matter what. I went to play football with a few of the brothers and a  few recruits. It was a fun time and I hope I made a good impression. Since there is no hazing the way to get in is if they like you. The next activity, which was today, was the Wing Night. We went to Kinsale for some very good and very cheap ($2 a person). It’s on Tremont Street across from Gov’t Center. Anyway SAE is definatley something I’ll be sticking with for more than just this class.
