#10 Soccer Team Love (Binglei Zhou)

I can’t stop saying this but I love my soccer team. They are the best! At first in the beginning of the season, I didn’t think I would make the team but coach kept me anyways. Throughout the season, I worked really hard and received so much support from the rest of the team that I became a starter! It’s such an amazing feeling to be called out to stand on the field because you’ve earned your spot to be a starter. I think I’ve learned many life lessons with my team. Life is too short to start with drama on a team and everyone plays much better together if we are all supporting one another. I still keep in touch with my team almost everyday. Without them, Suffolk would have been another experience for me.

#9 Mommy! (Binglei Zhou)

Getting a visit from mom was probably one of the best things that have happened to me this year. I remember saying to myself I can’t wait to get out of here, but honestly, I can’t wait to go home. I don’t think we are able to always get what we want. It’s so comforting for someone to care for you and help you do your laundry. It’s like a burden that is taken off of your shoulders. I took my mom to the Quincy Market, and then we went to a movie together and after that we went shopping. I even took her to meet my soccer teammates and the Men’s Basketball team. I was so excited to show my mom how amazing Boston is and all the great places I’ve been to. We went to dinner in the North End and had amazing spaghetti. She can’t wait to come back next year and do more shopping. I miss my parents.

#8 @suffolkproblems (Binglei Zhou)

@suffolkproblems

What’s worse then not being able to sleep right next to Tremont Street? Waking up at 4 A.M in the morning because some students decided to smoke downstairs in the basement. Well, we didn’t really know the reason until the next morning, but was I mad! I had an exam the next morning! I couldn’t get back into the building because I didn’t grab my ID on the way out. Not only were we standing outside in the freezing cold, but also people actually started smoking right next to the doors. Why? We are out here because of a fire hazard and now you’re going to start smoking. Well at least they remembered to bring down a pack of cigs on their way down the stairs. Let’s think smart people.

#7 Voting for OBAMA (Binglei Zhou)

Finally 18 and able to vote for the President of America! What an honor. I pity those who don’t vote or who could care to wake up and stand in line to vote because we are so lucky to be able to make a choice and a difference. There are so many other counties out there who are begging and struggling to fight for their rights to vote. My first time voting, I went to the state house instead of at some place in Chinatown, so I even went on a detour to vote. Though I don’t strongly believe in either side. I believe that Obama would be a better President because at least he remembers the words that come out of his mouth. Romney on the other hand can’t even control sentences like “binders full of women”… good one Romney. Romney to me seems too much of a hypocrite and I’m not willing to take a chance with someone who says he will free more jobs, but can’t remember what he ate the night before. Obama 4 more years please!

#6 Drawing (Binglei Zhou)

Try new things. So the other day I was sitting in the common room in my dorm and I decided to watch one of the girls on my floor draw. She was an art major and I thought she was AMAZING! So I went out and bought my own sketching book and pencils and decided to go on Youtube and start drawing. I’ve never drawn before and I merely took an interest and I wasn’t planning on showing anyone, but after drawing my first realistic eye, I had to show the whole world! Not bad for the very first time! After 3 hours later, I started drawing hands, lips, and roses. I became quite addicted to drawing. It’s now one of my new hobbies and it’s better then sitting on my butt and watching TV shows. So try something knew and maybe you might like it too.

#5 Running the Charles River (Binglei Zhou)

Exercising is important! A great way to exercise is to run the Charles River on a sunny day. Sometimes my teammates and I run all together to keep each other from walking or slacking at the same time. Occasionally we stop to look at how the sun hits the water and makes the ripples sparkle. There are many different routes that one could take. The longest run would be 6 miles and the shortest would be around 3 miles. At the end of our run, we walk down Charles Street to enjoy the daily lives and street crafts they have in the neighborhood. There are also a lot of different restaurants that you can eat at. I think the antique stores are quite awesome, but it might be because my dad likes to collect antiques and I have taken an interest in them. There is so much to see in Boston.

#4 Christmas! (Binglei Zhou)

Christmas is here! THAT MEANS PRESENTS AND NIGHT LIGHTS!! Have you walked by the Quincy Market at night? If not, then you are missing out my friend. Towards the back of the Quincy Market where all the shopping stores are, is a huge Christmas tree with bright lights! It is so beautiful at night. The food within the Quincy Market is very tasty as well. One of the worlds most famous New England Clam Chowder dish is waiting to be tasted in the inside. It’s also like a big food court. They also have amazing caramel covered apples. I shouldn’t be eating them but they are just too delicious! There is also Gap, Banana Republic, Coach…etc and other stores to go shopping in after you’ve eaten, taken some photos, and walked around. Enjoy the cool fresh air!

#3 Puppy Love (Binglei Zhou)

Puppy Love! Recently I read an article about Dalhousie University bringing in dogs for stress therapy. They are creating a puppy room for the students to be able to work with the stress of exams and end-of-term assignments. Many students comment and say that before their exams, they go to the puppy room to pet away some anxiety. Some have said that just by petting a dog decrease your blood pressure and relieve anxiety. Not only do the puppies receive affection but so does the person who pets them. The puppies are loving animals in the end. Maybe Suffolk University should start their own puppy room for their students!

#2 Chinese FOOD! (Binglei Zhou)

Cooking Chinese food is a stress reliever! What a way to save money and learn to cook for ourselves at the same time. Running to Chinatown and buying groceries for 10 dollars can make quite a meal. Before college when I lived with my parents, I would occasionally watch my mother prepare meals for the family. Who knew that those skills would come in handy? The vegetables are healthy and fresh. Instead of focusing and worrying about your next exam for 1 hour, you can prepare a healthy meal that can help you freshen up for the next few hours to come. Remember sleeping and eating healthy can improve your exam grades!

#1 Eating with Santa (Binglei Zhou)

Eating with Santa Claus in the basement at Ridgeway with children from the YMCA in Chinatown! What a turn out. There were so many Asian babies running around and playing games. What a great way to relieve stress at the same time. Who know a smile from a child could help relieve the stress before exams! I remember the time when I cared only about wearing batman shoes and a superman t-shirt at that age. Yes. I was a tomboy, and still think I am. To think that we were so happy with such little knowledge about the world is mind blowing. Maybe knowing everything doesn’t make one as happy as not knowing anything at all.
