Eric Berger – Bio

Eric brings over 35 years of supply chain experience in a variety of settings. The majority of that time has been in the healthcare setting. Eric currently serves as the Vice President for Supply Chain of the legacy Lahey Health, which is now part of Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), an integrated healthcare delivery network in eastern Massachusetts. In addition, Eric is serving as the interim leader for Supply Chain Infrastructure and Technology for BILH and is responsible for the successful implementation of a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. He has been the Vice President, Supply Chain for Lahey Health since June 2012. In that role, he oversaw the integration of supply chain activities across 5 acute care hospitals, behavioral health services and post-acute services. This includes standardizing the system to a single group purchasing organization (GPO), consolidating to a single supply chain management information system (Oracle PeopleSoft), and consolidating purchasing and contracting activities to a single location. Eric has responsibility to manage approximately $800 million in non-labor spend within Lahey Health.

 

Prior to that position, he served as the Director, Materials Management, for Northeast Health System, for 6 years and as the Director of Materials Management for Brockton Hospital for two and a half years. Previous supply chain experience includes work with Partners Healthcare System, serving as an Operations Manager and participating in the implementation of PeopleSoft as their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Eric took that experience and worked for Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), implementing PeopleSoft at Alabama Children’s Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, and OhioHealth. He has also had experience working on the supplier side, as a Service Excellence Manager for Cardinal Health, where he spent two years implementing value-added services for customers in the Northeast Region.

Eric holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University and a Master of Science in Management degree from Lesley University. He is also a Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP) through the Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials  Management.

In addition, Eric is the current President of the New England Society for Healthcare Materials Management (NESHMM).
