The Boston Area is made up of several neighborhoods that bring out different characteristics of what the city has to offer. Suffolk University is found in the downtown area of Boston near the Boston Common. The airport is across the Boston Harbor in East Boston.
The North End is famous for its Italian food and famous pastry places. The streets are filled with many choices in restaurants. It is also part of where the Freedom Trail stops at historical locations such as Old North Church, and Paul Revere House.
Beacon Hill is made up of the fancier older houses in Boston. It is a great spot to walk around and it has its own business center to shop at. Historic Downtown is made up of the Government Center, Faneuil Hall, and Haymarket areas. This is the landmarks that have been preserved of Boston’s early history, and in this section, there are many restaurants to choose from. Faneuil Hall for example has been around since 1742 built as a gift to the people of Boston to have a place for merchants. It now includes restaurants with foods that range from Tex-Mex, ramen, American and it contains various shops that are both for entertainment and retail.
Past historic downtown one can find the Boston Long Wharf, and aquarium. This is a beautiful place to walk by the waterfront and see the beautiful architecture and parks. The New England Aquarium is also a favorite for tourists. Boston Harbor Cruises offer the chance to see Boston in a completely different way.
The Boston Common and Public Garden are the nicest places to walk around and get a feel of nature in the city. They are famous for laying and enjoying the sun, people watching, and picnics. The Boston Common is a large park known for it’s children’s park “the frog pond” and places to play baseball as well as bike and play with dogs. The Public Garden is a botanical park and it is famous for its lake which offers rides on their Swan Boats. The Garden is beautiful and peaceful.
Back Bay is a mix of residential and commercial life. In Back Bay here is Copley Street which is the home of Boston Landmarks such as the old Boston church and, the Boston Public Library. Back Bay is also where the Prudential Center is located and diverse options for fine dining. The Northeastern University campus is also located in this neighborhood.
Fenway is the location for the Fenway Park which is a big attraction to sports fans that come to Boston. This is the stadium where the Red Sox play. Surrounding Fenway there is the Museum of Fine Arts, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and Kenmore Square. The Boston University campus is found here near the Charles River.
The South End of Boston is a notable up and coming area of the city for tourists. The SoWa Open Market is a place worth visiting. Boston University Medical School campus is in this neighborhood. The neighborhood offers several small parks to visit and many restaurants as well.
Cambridge is across the Charles River from Boston and this is where the Harvard and MIT campuses are found. These are famous tourist locations where one can walk and tour around the historic campuses. In Harvard Square, there are boutiques, shops, ice cream places, and restaurants to keep one entertained. Some Museums in Cambridge worth visiting are the Museum of Science, Longfellow House, and Harvard University Hebraria.
