Opening Plenary
In this opening plenary, we celebrate the 20-year conference anniversary of Console-ing Passions with a group of prestigious scholars from various areas of scholarship and points in their careers who will speak to the multiple trajectories feminist media studies has taken over the years. General questions the plenary participants will address include: What are the movements that have energized the field, or set us back? Where has feminist scholarship of media been, and where do you see it going? Each speaker will have 15 minutes to point to a few of what each sees as transformative moments, themes, or cultural shifts that speak to the past, present, and future of feminist scholarship within their area of expertise. A moderated conversation between the plenary speakers and the audience will follow the prepared remarks.
