BY AIR

Boston’s Logan Airport is an international hub for flights from all over North American and the world. Many airline carriers offer direct service to Boston. Getting from the airport to downtown Boston is easy and inexpensive. The Metro-Boston Transportation Authority (MBTA) operates a bus line from Logan, which connects with the city’s subway system, known locally as the T.

The easiest and cheapest way to get from Logan to the conference site and surrounding hotels is to use the MBTA transit system to take the Silver Line bus to South Station and then transfer to the Red Line subway inbound to Park Street Station. You will find Silver Line bus stops located outside of the terminals on the lower, baggage claim level. You will need a ticket or exact change before boarding the Silver Line bus. Ticket kiosks for T passes are located on the same level as baggage claim, and the kiosks accept cash or credit cards. A T pass is good for both bus and subway service. A one-way trip from the airport to Downtown Boston will cost $2.oo.

Taxi service is also available outside the terminals on the lower, baggage claim level. A one-way taxi trip from Logan to downtown Boston will cost between $25.00-$30.00. Most taxi cabs take major credit cards, but be sure to ask the driver before you get in the vehicle.

BY TRAIN OR BUS

South Station is Boston’s central bus and train hub. Amtrak operates from South Station as do major bus carriers (Greyhound, Peter Pan, Bolt Bus, Mega Bus). If you arrive by bus, from the bus terminal follow well-marked signs to walk to the train station (about a 3 minute walk between buildings). From the train station, follow well-marked signs for the MBTA subway system and board the Red Line heading inbound to Alewife and get off at Park Street Station. You will need a ticket before boarding the Red Line. Ticket kiosks for T passes are located in the subway, just before the turnstiles, and the kiosks accept cash or credit cards. A one-way trip from South Station to Downtown Boston will cost $2.00.

BY CAR

Major interstate highways that connect to Boston include Route 93 which runs north-south; Route 90 (the Mass Pike) which runs east-west; and Routes 95 and 495 which circle the greater Boston area. Public parking in downtown Boston is scant and expensive. Please check with your hotel for parking accommodations, or view this list of area parking facilities. Conference attendees who are staying in the Suffolk University residence hall, will not be provided with parking. For local commuters, it is recommended that you park at one of the T stops located farther away from the city center (Alewife and Riverside are the most common parking locations) and take the MBTA subway system to Park Street Station.
