Robotics Activities

In 2 classes of SF 197, a LEGO robot was built and tested out. The first day we were given instructions on how to combine lego pieces with the LEGO box; programming box. On the 2nd day we were given a program to run while the LEGO robot was USB-connected to the computer. We made 3 different test on how the changing power can effect how far the LEGO robot travel.

Here is the picture of the LEGO robot, and this is the program we ran:

With that these are my results:

  1.  Time for all are 1 second
  2. a. Power=75 for Wheel 1 and 2 , distance measured in labview ( the program we used to run and create the programs) was .2668 meters, and the distance I measured manually was .2617 meters. We have to calculate the, % of error equation which determines the percent of the wrong measurement. The equation is.(d(manual measurement) – d (labview measurement))/average of both manual and labview with that .the result was about .037488 %error
  • Power = 95 for Wheel 1 and 2, distance measured in labview is .3381 meters and the distance i measured manually was .3429 meters. The %error is 1.4096.
  • Power = 100 for Wheel 1 and 2, distance measured in labview is .38863 meters and the distance I measured manually was .37084 meters. The %error is 4.6849

We also found that the degree that the wheel rotate relates to the number of turns of the wheel, 360 degree will equal to a full turn or 1.
A Second is also related to  milliseconds because there is 1000 milliseconds in 1 second.

The distance and the circumference of the wheel also relates because the surface area of the circumference of the wheel covers the amount of distance so if the circumference was about 2 inches, in 1 full wheel turn or 360 degree, it would have traveled 2 inches.

 

That concludes my reflection on the Robotics activities.
