In 2 classes of SF 197, a LEGO robot was built and tested out. The first day we were given instructions on how to combine lego pieces with the LEGO box; programming box. On the 2nd day we were given a program to run while the LEGO robot was USB-connected to the computer. We made 3 different test on how the changing power can effect how far the LEGO robot travel.

Here is the picture of the LEGO robot, and this is the program we ran:

With that these are my results:

1.  Time for all are 1 second
2. a. Power=75 for Wheel 1 and 2 , distance measured in labview ( the program we used to run and create the programs) was .2668 meters, and the distance I measured manually was .2617 meters. We have to calculate the, % of error equation which determines the percent of the wrong measurement. The equation is.(d(manual measurement) – d (labview measurement))/average of both manual and labview with that .the result was about .037488 %error

• Power = 95 for Wheel 1 and 2, distance measured in labview is .3381 meters and the distance i measured manually was .3429 meters. The %error is 1.4096.
• Power = 100 for Wheel 1 and 2, distance measured in labview is .38863 meters and the distance I measured manually was .37084 meters. The %error is 4.6849

We also found that the degree that the wheel rotate relates to the number of turns of the wheel, 360 degree will equal to a full turn or 1.
A Second is also related to  milliseconds because there is 1000 milliseconds in 1 second.

The distance and the circumference of the wheel also relates because the surface area of the circumference of the wheel covers the amount of distance so if the circumference was about 2 inches, in 1 full wheel turn or 360 degree, it would have traveled 2 inches.

That concludes my reflection on the Robotics activities.

                President Obama have started a plan to limit the amount of carbon output from power corporations, industries, and companies to make sure they are flexible enough to decrease the amount Carbon dioxide into the air. Reducing the carbon from Power Plants and also increasing and expanding the Clean Energy economy. He want heavy-duty cars to be more efficient in using oil or fossil fuel. Most people leave their power on, like lights, microwave,  or anything that uses electricity, so like stopping power in the morning and use the sun for light instead of wasting power, disconnect power if not needed or have it be automatic with a switch.

             The Clean Power Plan is the biggest step to combat climate change. “ We are the first generation to experience climate change and also the last generation to be able to do anything about it” – Obama. Even most Americans voting on the poll is agreeing that the Earth is warming. Luke Popovich, vice president of communications for the National Mining Association. “That’s why state leaders across the country are coming to the same conclusion — that we should not sacrifice our power system to an unworkable plan built on a faulty interpretation of the law.” People are disagreeing with the plan because of there is no profit.

                But to put in a little of my personal opinion, if you die, you can’t even earn money anymore, how about your kids, or your grandkids? Not everyone thinks about profit ( money) when they do things, like volunteering, its the feeling to be able to help people in need satisfy them, like I feel a lot.

President Obama will be expanding the Better Building challenge by helping building cuts waste to become 20% more efficient by 2020. Also developing a standard for heavy-duty cars which uses fuel, a transportation that contributes to the release of greenhouse gas. Also permitting up to 10 gigawatts of wind and solar power by 2020.

                 In my personal opinion, climate change is a problem, with the cause from global warming, The world is warming up, the poles are melting, climates are changing all around the world. With the amount of greenhouse gases released into the air, and people not doing anything about it, it is only a matter of time when the earth becomes too hot for even human to live on. Clean Energy is a great way to start, but also there are other ways as well including clean energy. Not using energy in the morning that is unnecessary, like lights. Have solar panels to charge up in the morning, then using that stored up energy for night-time to power things, like air conditioner, light, heater,oven, microwave, etc. People doesn’t want to do it because they don’t worry such matters, but it is something that need to be done now or else it will be harder and harder as we drag this on.

In my opinion, I have many views on genetically modified crops. If it is modified it could be bad for you and harm you internally. Its basically fatty food vs a healthy food like salad from home vs cheese burger from McDonalds. I been eating many kind of food and most food I believe is modified in some way. From meat, vegetables, fruits, etc, however they are modified to last so we as humans can enjoy them to the fullest. I know Banana is one of those fruits that was modified because of diseases and Bananas are my favorite type of fruit.

I disagree with Greggor Ilagan,  because the only way you can only see negative things about G.M.O.s is when you look at the most popular sites that have that topic, the sites are arranged in the amount of visits. “But, supporters of the ban warned, scientists had not always correctly assessed the health and environmental risks of new technology”(G.M.Os article). As stated scientists had not been correct with the health and environmental risks of new technology, therefore G.M.O.s cant be always safe, there is going to be a day where someone die because of it or something close.

“The seed-producing biotechnology companies, which had backed a state measure to prevent local governments from regulating their activity”(G.M.Os Article). As stated, seed-producing biotechnology companies prevent local governments from regulating their activity, basically working in behind-the-scenes, and not let anyone outside know what is they are doing. If G.M.Os is safe why would they what they are doing a secret? What is there to hide about them? It could be hiding the true facts about G.M.Os.

“As the plantations faded in the 1980s, some began growing papayas. But after an outbreak of Papaya ringspot virus in the mid-’90s, only the Rainbow, endowed with a gene from the virus itself that effectively gave it immunity, had saved the crop, they told him”(G.M.Os Article). This conflicted with what Mr. Ilagan found, the genetically modified papaya was saved because it was endowed with a gene from the virus. Yet the modification is still bad. “Derek Brewer, 29, an Army veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan before coming to Hawaii to help found an eco-hostel. “We don’t fully understand genetics. Once you change something like this, there is no taking it back”(G.M.Os Article). As Sir Brewer said, once you changed it, there is no way to return it back to its originality.

As Mr. Ilagan experienced, there are both side to this G.M.O. thing. There are people who want to keep thing Natural, as non-genetically modified organisms, and there are some who thinks, G.M.O.s is the better, as they don’t go extinct. In the end the ban on G.M.O. was successful for the land of Hawaii, with 6-3.

Like the article says, the growing population and warming of the Earth, is using things so heavily. G.M.Os  is also the only way to sustain this growing population around the world, as we know it the world population is growing continuously. If all the food has gone extinct then the world would die of starvation because there isn’t enough food to supply the human race, animals, etc. They aren’t safe to the humans body because it causes the body to have antibiotics. In the end, G.M.O. have pros and cons, therefore G.M.O. is a neutral threat.
