Angela El Jazzar has been elected the next President of the Student Government Association. El Jazzar, the current Treasurer, beat fellow Senators Marissa Kearney and Logan Casey, capturing 37% of the vote to Kearney’s 34.5%, and Casey’s 25%. Only 22 votes separated El Jazzar and Kearney.
In the Vice Presidential race, Stephen Rykola, who ran uncontested, won with 78% of the vote. Tara Maltese and Evan Weston, who ran for Secretary and Treasurer respectively, were also unopposed and received 86% and 85%, respectively.
Melissa Contover, Kristina Buchanan, and Jenna Zampitella were elected Senators for the Class of 2022. Ana Luiza Bernardes, JD Conte, Brian Le, and Giovan Soares were elected Senators for the Class of 2023. And Nathaly Lemus, Stephen Merrick Jr., Antonio Nunziata, Maegan Kuhlman, and Bricen Bouderault were elected Senators for the Class of 2024.
Samantha Garcia won the Senator-at-Large for Diversity position with 84% of the vote. Mason Sawyer Lafferty won the Senator-at-Large for the School of Arts and Sciences with 81.5% of the vote. Multiple positions, including Senator-at-Large for Veterans, Senator-at-Large for the Sawyer Business School, and Senator-at-Large for International Students are pending due to write-in votes.
