BIOGRAPHIES 

                                  

Gianna Costello 
Editor-in-Chief

Gianna Costello, a current 3L at Suffolk Law School, is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Health and Biomedical Law for the 2023-2024 academic year. As Editor-in-Chief, Gianna oversees the operations of the journal and the publication of Volume XX, Issues 1-3 of JHBL. 

Gianna is a 3:03 certified student prosecutor through Suffolk’s Prosecutors Program. As a student prosecutor, Gianna acts as an Assistant District Attorney, representing the Commonwealth in legal matters. She is also a member of Suffolk Law’s chapter of If, When, How. During her 2L summer, Gianna was a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Scholars Program in the Division of Enforcement at the SEC’s headquarters in Washington D.C. During her 1L summer, Gianna worked as a Commercial Legal Intern at Hologic, Inc. After graduating from law school, Gianna hopes to litigate white collar crimes and government enforcement actions.

Prior to law school, Gianna was a Buyer at Boston Children’s Hospital. Gianna graduated with a BBA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2020, where she majored in both Operations and Information Management and English, with a concentration in Supply Chain Management. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Gianna was a Procurement Leadership Development Program Intern at Thermo Fisher Scientific. 

Ana Clavijo
Managing Editor

Ana Clavijo, a current 3L at Suffolk Law School, is the Managing Editor of the Journal of Health and Biomedical Law for the 2023-2024 academic year. As Managing Editor, Ana collaborates with the Editor-in-Chief and Executive Editor to ensure compliance from its members in order to execute a timely publication.

Ana is a 3:03 certified student attorney through the Immigrant Justice Clinic, where she will be representing immigrants in immigration court. During her time in law school, Ana has dedicated herself to the field of immigration law. During her 1L summer she was a legal intern at De Novo Center for Justice and Healing as a part of their Immigration Unit. In her 2L year and 2L summer, Ana also interned at the Law Offices of Rachel L. Rado, a boutique immigration law firm in the city of Boston. Upon graduation, Ana hopes to continue her practice in the field of immigration law.

Prior to law school, Ana worked in the hospitality industry and volunteered at the Boston Court Service Center, where she provided pro se litigants with information regarding court processes related to their cases in Probate and Family Court and helped them fill out the required forms. Ana graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a BA in International Relations and Political Science while minoring in Economics.

Timothy Scalona
Executive Editor 

Timothy (“Tim”) Scalona is a rising 3L at Suffolk Law school. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Bachelor’s in Policy, Journalism, & Storytelling from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Further, he has a Masters of Public Policy from the same institution. In addition to serving as the journal’s Executive Editor, he is President of the National Lawyer’s Guild Suffolk Law chapter. He is an housing and education justice activist and, after graduation, would like to serve as a housing legal aid attorney or a public defender. His work has been featured in publications such as the Boston Globe and the Washington Post.
