The Man, The Myth, The Slayer

Do you know what this week is??? [uncomfortably long pause] That’s right! The 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.

If you actually guessed that, Dora the Explorer is proud…está muy orgullosa.

There are a couple of events in tribute to that this week:

First off, there is an exhibit entitled; Abraham Lincoln: A Man of His Time, A Man For All Times. This display is a traveling exhibition from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. It takes focus on Lincoln as a leader and how he was able to accomplish all that he did. (If you’re not a history buff, he did a TON).

In conjunction with this exhibit there is a discussion entitled The Emancipation Proclamation: 150 Years Later. Leading the conversation are four authors and scholars; William Martin author of The Lincoln Letter, Robert Bellinger Associate Professor of History and Director at Suffolk University, Kerri Greenidge author of Boston’s Abolitionists at Suffolk University, and Robert Allison Chair of the History Department at Suffolk University (moderator). BOOM…boom pow…ehm.

When you go, you can determine which of the following are fact and fiction.                         1. Lincoln-Always honest…?                                                                                                             2. Lincoln-Vampire Slayer                                                                                                               3. He hid a rabbit in his hat…just in case.

After you find out, let us know. We’re pretty curious.

Seriously, comment or contact us and let us know your experiences from this week and something cool will happen to you.

You’re welcome in advance.
