Germany’s green energy policy

With 20 years of experience in the domain of green energy, Germany is one of the most proactive countries in Europe. In fact Germany produces 3/4 of European solar energy which brought them to world’s second in means of solar energy.

Renewable energy represents an important part in the German energy.  Germans foresee that in 2050 renewable energy will reach 80% in energy consumption and 50% in energy needs. The rise of green energy also engendered new jobs, in fact more than 350 000 people work in the field of sustainable energies in Germany. According to the forecasts of the companies from this sector, this number should reach the 500 000 in 2020.

According to the economic development rubric, ‘Innovation et exportation du Québec’, Germany is without a doubt a world leader in the renewable energy area. It’s number one in the biodiesel domain while still holding renowned positions in many other sectors, such as:

  • Wind Turbines Energy
  • Biogas
  • Biomass

In this way, the goals of the federal government of Germany are :

  • The Increase of the production of heat by renewable energies
  • The reduction of Greenhouse Gas emissions
  • The exploitations of bio energies included in the action plan for biomass introduced in 2009.

Renewable energies are becoming necessary for the survival of the planet, regarding the issues of environment, climate and energy. In fact, the atmospheric mutations and the climates change are some of the biggest challenge of the 21st century in the field of environemental politics. The climatic changes, most due to human activity are the most important challenge. for many years, Germany has been doing an important load of effort to slow down the greenhouse gases by adopting a climate protection politic. In the same way, they also promoted the renewables and their effectiveness in terms of energy. In 2011, Germany shocked the whole world by deciding to abandon nuclear energy and shutting down their last nuclear facility in 2022 at the latest
