Same Situation Different Outcomes

In this blog post I’m going to analyze the two cities they were and are a hotspot for covid, New York City and Miami. Even though both cities have similarities and differences the focus is guided towards on how efficient each city managed the virus and the regulations that were established to avoid the outbreak of several cases.

At some point during this pandemic these cities where the Covid hotspot and had the highest infection rate but NY responses was very effective and completely different. The city of New York reported its first case March 1, this was the beginning of a pandemic that many people believed to not be very strong or contagious. As the weeks passed NY became the hotspot as mentioned, by April 10 it was the most infected place in the world besides US. This went on to mid may beginning of June where the cases had already decreased but reached 100,000 deaths. In New York since day one people where very aware of the activities that they were allowed to do in order to be inside the government regulations, for example the curfews were respected which influenced on the spread of the virus.

On the other hand, Miami got there first case March 5, but the increase of cases from day to day where very small around 4-5 every day from several weeks, which seemed as if it was controlled. During the month of June and July is where we see the really high numbers until the point that they became the nation’s hotspot and as of now they still have the highest rate of infections. I have a lot of relatives leaving there, therefore I have somewhat of first-hand knowledge on rewards to Miami. From my point of view the people from Miami have not followed the regulations or in another way they are being ignorant and underestimated the risk of Covid. On the other hand, the marinas closed bit for very little time and as we know that is one of Miami’s most traditional activities with family and friends.
