Mass hysteria and global panic has ensued since the pandemic gripped the nation. Political bias has most certainly not been immune to this hyper-political environment. Just recently, we have seen bi-partisan issues, such as COVID, relief splitting Congress down the middle. One of the core issues has been individual freedom and how folks are able to conduct themselves during the pandemic. For many, freedom has been compromised in the name of inconsistent health measures backed up by perceived pseudo-science.
Partisan politics has become the new norm and gripped the nation since the pandemic spread. Since this has occurred, politics have reigned supreme from top level issues all the way down to lower level. An interesting revelation from the pandemic has been the issue of individual freedom and choice in terms how folks conduct their daily lives. In fact, many have taken issues with the calls to wear masks and other protective gear. Aside from standard political bias, the pandemic has driven folks further apart.[1]
During the COVID crisis we have seen Republicans and Democrats have polarized toward opposite ends of the aisle. In fact, the issue of wearing a mask has become the core of politics. In contrast, while many Republican leaders have also spoken out about the importance of masks, other top Republicans have been more hesitant to mandate masks, even as their states have started to see surges of new cases amid reopening phases. The most obvious of these is Donald Trump himself.[3]
With this being said the issue of individual freedom has been highlighted unlike ever before. Not only has COVID conducted s public health crisis, but a liberty crisis as well.
