Underlying Medical Conditions with COVID-19

Underlying Medical Conditions with COVID-19

With the beginning of the spread of the coronavirus in China then around the world, countries were scrambling to halt the spread of the coronavirus pandemic to protect people. However, there was a lot of damage to the economy in some countries and the education system in all countries, and international flights are stopped. Among the most important of them, there was a significant shortage of medical supplies and hospital facilities to receive patients and protect other patients. As of August 7, more than 722,000 people worldwide have died of COVID-19, and more than 19.4 million who have tested positive for COVID-19, and more than 11.7 million people have recovered so far (Johns Hopkins, 2020).

All people of all ages are at risk of infection for COVID-19, but there is a group of individuals who are most vulnerable to infection. This leads to them be admitted to hospitals or care centers, or in need to use a ventilator to help them breathe (CDC,2020). Also, people of any age with certain underlying medical conditions are at increased risk for COVID-19 such as Cancer, Chronic kidney disease, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), Immunocompromised state, Obesity, Serious heart conditions, Sickle cell illness and, Type 2 diabetes mellitus (Mayo Clinic, 2020).

We must also take into account some of the conditions that might be at an increased risk for example Asthma, Cystic fibrosis, Hypertension, Liver disease, Pregnancy, Pulmonary fibrosis, and Smoking (CDC,2020).

I think if we pay attention to these people with certain medical conditions, which are most vulnerable to infection with the COVID-19, it will help reduce its spread, and everyone should take care of them and help to stop meeting with them.
