With a flexible layout and modular seating, the Modern Theatre is equipped for theatrical productions, concerts, lectures, film screenings, fundraisers, dance performances, event receptions, awards nights, comedy shows, open mic nights, and more!

The Modern Theatre is available for booking to both Suffolk University- affiliated and non-Suffolk University- affiliated groups and organizations.

What types of events can the Modern Theatre be used for?

The Modern Theatre is a flexible space, and the stage, theatre, and the two-story lobby can be used and arranged to suit your event needs. The Modern Theatre is equipped to accommodate plays, musicals, dance performances, concerts, lectures, film screenings, fundraisers, event receptions, awards nights, comedy shows, open-mic nights, auditions, poetry readings, etc.

What is the maximum capacity for the Modern Theatre?

The Modern Theatre can host up to 185 people.

What are the technical specifications of the Modern Theatre?

The Modern Theatre has an updated, integrated projector capable of screening high-definition movies and documentaries onto a static large-scale projector screen. The lighting system is fully module and offers LED lights as well as programmable follow spots ,and the in-built sound system features wireless and wired microphones, instrument tie-ins, and computer integration.The stage is intimate and flexible,21 feet wide and 24 feet deep, and can be extended into the auditorium up to another 15 feet. Does the Modern Theatre manage ticketing and event registration? Does the Modern Theatre provide box office and front-of-house staff?

All events at the Modern Theatre will be ticketed through the Modern Theatre’s ticketing system, including free events. A Modern Theatre front of house manager will be present at all events, and box office staff and ushers can be provided.

Does the Modern Theatre provide catering and bar service? Does the Modern Theatre allow outside catering and bar service to be brought in?

The Modern Theatre does not provide catering or bar service, but we can connect you with Suffolk University’s catering and bar service.

Outside catering and bar service can be brought in, subject to the Modern Theatre management team’s discretion.
