Tom Vale came in our Class last Friday morning and presented on radioactive elements and how they decay into lead.

He showed us how it decreases by 1/2 a life that can turn  then turn into 4.5 billion years of life behind it with the 4.5×10 to the 9th.

Facts Learned:

The uranium element in glaze pieces, people were not aware back in the day and still may not know that there is radioactive in them.

The uranium and radon was also being in the water people were drinking from their mugs that may have been glazed with it. Also people were dieing from the poison. Such as the girls that started doing a painting business and were not aware of the ingredient in the paint/ brush. Radioactive elements are constantly decaying and are unstable.

Vales was very informative, and interesting to listen into about what he has experienced and what he works with daily, including the presentation on his devices which were able to detect
whether there was something radioactive.

I also learned that radiation is around us all the time, and that these elements that occur naturally around us have always been on earth. Radiation is beneficial and harmful to us.
