2007 ENCORE

Welcome to ENCORE

Suffolk Arts+Sciences // Premiere Issue // 2007

In the pages of the inaugural issue of Suffolk Arts + Sciences, you will meet Emilio Aragon, CAS alumnus and an actor, musician, and entrepreneur much beloved in Spain, and James Carroll, National Book Award winner, Boston Globe columnist, and a faculty member in the College of Arts and Sciences. You will get a peek into the Suffolk-based literary magazine, Salamander; a tour of the new Poetry Center; and a front row seat in the C. Walsh Theatre.

As Suffolk University’s centennial year comes to a close, the College of Arts and Sciences has never been livelier. Unprecedented numbers of students are making Suffolk their destination. A new undergraduate curriculum, faculty of the highest caliber, and visiting scholars of international renown combine to enrich our creative and intellectual environment.

Born of a love for the city of Boston and its people, Suffolk University still insists on giving back to that community. This mission threads its way through our curriculum, most visibly in the Expanded Classroom requirement that takes students away from their desks and into the world where they can apply their classroom learning for the greater good.  See “Standout Talent” in the Students Today section for some inspiring examples.

The College is brimming with energy and we invite you to read its stories and share some of your own.
