Senior Programming and Design | Fourth Year
My Senior Studio project is an experiential retail shop that promotes self transportation. Work in Boston has grown and is still growing which has increased the amount of commuters. From 2014 to 2019 there has been 300,000 more cars on the road in Boston and a total of 59,000 people drive alone to work. On top of this, the MBTA has more derailments than almost any other subway transit system, 40 in the past 5 years, making it unreliable for commuters. This led me to the challenge, How can we design a shop that pushes the experience of purchasing bikes so far, that it promotes self transportation, helping make roads less congested? If the overall experience of the retail shop is intriguing and helpful for the user, they are more likely to buy and come back. This will help get people out of cars and on bikes, scooters, rollerblades, skateboards, etc.
