For nearly two decades, the tech industry has grown exponentially with relatively little interference from governmental authorities. Companies like Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google continue to outpace their competitors with few signs of slowing down. While their success is admirable in some respects, there is a growing undertone of concern that these companies are now too highly concentrated in the tech markets. Democrats and Republicans alike largely agree that Big Tech has gone too far, gained unrestrained power, and chilled the very principles of competition law in the United States. The latest antitrust lawsuits against Google and Facebook emphasize this point and serve as a timely signal that the breakup of Big Tech might very well be on the horizon.
