The Suffolk University Theatre Department will once again be bringing It Can’t Happen Here to the Modern Theatre by presenting a dramatic reading of the play, as a part of Writers for Democratic Action’s nationwide event:

In 1936, Sinclair Lewis’ play It Can’t Happen Here opened simultaneously on 21 stages in 17 states on October 27, one week before that year’s presidential election as a warning against the rise of fascism in America.
Now, through It Can’t Happen Here – Again, Lewis’ play will be presented on multiple stages in multiple cities on July 19th, as an homage to the 1936 production and a call to action now in 2024.
