About the Suffolk MPA

The Suffolk MPA Emphasis:

Public service is a rewarding and dynamic field.  Suffolk’s NASPAA (Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration) -Accredited MPA program is designed for professionals in public service and nonprofit management. The Suffolk MPA emphasizes management and implementation tools and techniques in public and nonprofit settings.  MPA coursework stresses the critical role of public service managers and leaders in collectively improving organizational or community interests.  The Suffolk MPA can accommodate a challenging student schedule with flexible and accessible course offerings.

 

What can you do with an MPA Degree? 

  • Local Government: City manager, financial administrator, budget analyst, social services administrator, urban planner or community affairs manager for counties, towns, school districts and municipalities.
  • State Government: Administrative services manager, legislator or administrator for state government departments, legislative agencies, or judicial courts, such as a Supreme Court, appellate court or trial court.
  • Federal Government: Administrator, IT administrator, or legislator for federal departments and agencies, accounting offices, offices of senators and representatives, U.S. court system, presidential departments such as agriculture or education; for independent agencies such as environmental protection agencies, emergency management agencies, or other governmental service agencies.
  • Non-Profit Sector: Administrator, developer, program manager, policy analyst or researcher for local non-profits and foundations, charities, trade associations or research organizations.
  • Political: Administrator for Political Action, educational or public interest group, for a political party or lobbying organization.
  • Business: Human resource manager, budget analyst, sales or marketing manager for a business firm, contracting and consulting firm, or a management company.
  • Healthcare: Administrator in hospital, healthcare facility, nursing home or in a social services agency.
