Love-Scenario: Is This Love? Choosing Locations
by Aqil K. Legopranowo
This year for the past summer, I’ve had a chance to work on a video project titled “Love-Scenario: Is This Love?” a miniseries with a couple of friends. The series tells a story about a tight knit group of friends who navigate the ups and downs of life together. The main central character, Kieu, finds herself caught in a charmingly complicated situation. She becomes close friends with three guys; Huy, Ramli, and Suijin who within the group, each possess unique qualities that captivate her. The mini-series spans to about 16 episodes coming out weekly every Friday, 8 PM so stay tuned!
During my time in Boston, finding key locations to shoot for the series was an opportunity as the city provided spaces for any scene to be lived in from the streets of Beacon Hill to the harbor in Seaport. Past film places that were notably mentioned would be scenes shot in the public garden filmed for “Good Will Hunting” to the North End where the film Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell in their movie “Spirited”. An example of a location I shot a scene at was in beacon hill at a small park near the Suffolk Gym where the area was quiet gave the scene, I wanted for the characters to feel one with the environment. Although there are instances where there might be people walking about, finding a quiet space was essential in filming. In addition, it helps the crew and actors/actress on set to perform without feeling pressured are the main factors when filming as to not disturb the people’s daily lives and to focus on the scene. Overall Boston is a great place whether you’re filming in old Victorian bricks buildings to the modern city one bridge away gave opportunities for me to film for the series. Nevertheless, I had a fun time filming with the cast and crew, so don’t forget to check out the mini-series in Tinggi Studio.
