Erin’s Views on Accepting the LGBTQ+ Community

Students have formed a program, referred to as G.A.L.A.S., in support of the LGBTQ+ community. It mentions that its purpose is to provide an environment of support and visibility. This is an extremely important factor in not only self acceptance but with overall acceptance of the LGBT+ community.

Suffolk University offers acceptance through a student group supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

Erin denied her sexuality to her mother at first, but eventually told her. Her mother has been accepting and doesn’t treat her any differently than before. The rest of her family has been the same way. This is an example of acceptance within this identity, and how over time people have grown to accept members of the LGBT+ community.

“I have chosen to include is an extremely gross photo of myself and a friend going to a high school dance. Since it is the societal norm to go with dates of the opposite sex, we both went together. While neither of us accepted our sexuality at the time, we are both gay now“.
