Lizzie’s Views on Being a Triplet

Through her identity as the only girl in a triplet, Lizzie point out that gender of siblings affects how an individual grows up.

Lizzie had a conversation with her triplet brother Bradley who gave his perspective on the same identity they both share. He remembers he and his brother Connor both fought over a singular sock and argued who it belonged to. He said it didn’t matter who’s sock it was, but it was more about the dominance of trying to be the one who had to be right

Bradley said that the fights between him and his brother strengthened their friendship and closeness which he didn’t realize until years later when the fights happened less.

Bradley explained that sharing a birthday with our cousin and the other triplets seemed awesome and he thinks it wouldn’t be as fun if he had his own birthday.

Bradley’s experience has made me realize that gender has a big role in the effect of closeness that siblings may have. He also says that personality matters more than the age gap. He always felt that we were our own individuals and hardly grouped together because our personalities are incredibly diverse. He says, “we chose different paths as soon as he decided to go to a technical high school and I went to public school. Some teachers we had didn’t even know there was a triplet that existed. Now our paths as individuals is even more distant because you are studying film in Boston, Connor is in California with the Marines, and I’m becoming an engineer in Lowell.”
