BILINGUAL READINGS WITH MEXICAN POET DAVID HUERTA
David Huerta will read from Before Saying Any of the Great Words: Selected Poems of David Huerta
with his award-winning translator, Mark Schafer, at Jamaicaway Books and Boston University.
Huerta is one of Mexico’s most important living poets. He is the author of 19 collections of poetry, a
professor of literature at the Autonomous University of Mexico City, a columnist, scholar, and cultural activist.
Schafer has translated the poetry, novels, stories and essays of many Latin American writers. He is also a visual artist and co-coordinator of the Spanish/English Certificate Program at UMass Boston.
