Heres a clip about increasing gas mileage

Gas prices always seem to be increasing, and never seem to be our friend. That being said, automobile industries are always looking for and and coming up with new ways to increase gas mileage. 20 years ago these industries weren’t as sophisticated as they are today so trying to increase gas mileage was much more difficult, they didn’t have the means needed to better their cars whether it be with cars like hybrids or prius’ or with tools and technology to better the system.

Today, however, technology and science is extremely advanced. The automobile industries today, have come up with many different ways to increase the gas mileage on today’s cars, first being the types of cars. There are ten specific cars that are huge savers on gas mileage which are: the Toyota prius that gets 50 miles per gallon, the honda civic hybrid that gets 45-50 miles per gallon, the toyota scion XA that gets a little over 30 miles per gallon, and the toyota celica that gets 30 miles to the gallon- these 4 cars all have automatic transmissions. There are also those with manual transmissions such as the honda insight that gets 60 miles to the gallon, the volkswagen that gets about 40 miles to the gallon, the honda civic standard that gets about 35 miles to the gallon, the toyota echo that gets 35 miles to the gallon, the toyota corolla which gets 40 miles per gallon, and the toyota scion XB which gets 30 miles to the gallon.

Having a car that is “eco friendly” makes your search for increasing your gas mileage extremely easy but if you don’t already have one or don’t plan on buying one soon, there are other ways to get it done.

Here are 5 easy ways to increase gas mileage:

  1. Smooth Ride- When driving hitting the brakes in a stop and go way can decrease your fuel efficiently. A smoother ride makes for a farther one.
  2. Don’t be a speed demon- Going over 60 mph in most cars can end up costing you more money in the long run. Cars loose gas mileage mostly when going over 60 mph
  3. Get that junk out of your trunk!- keeping unnecessary loads of things in your trunks and backseats burns fuel fast!
  4. Don’t just sit there- Sitting idle in any car is a huge waste of gas.
  5. Cruisin’ – For most cars, using cruise control can help tremendously on saving gas.

I commute to school this semster so I spend a good amount of money on gas. Therefore, I thought it was interesting that you highlighted Toyotas because I have a Toyota Scion. With the prius getting up to 50 miles per gallon maybe I should have considered the “greener” route!
