The objective of this experiment is to generate an electric current by creating positive and negative ions and a conductor, In other words, we are trying to create electricity from simply just coins.
What is this experiment? It is a simple battery made from coins, we need to test the number of coins used and how it affects the amount of electricity produced.
How to build this experiment:
- Put vinegar and salt together.
- Cut paper towels into small squares; put them into the solution of salt and vinegar.
- Put paper towel between every penny and every nickel
- The more you add coins the higher the voltage.
Vinegar à Electrolyte
Vinegar breaks salt into positive and negative ions.
Salt à NaCl (ions)
NaCl à Na+ + Cl
The zinc has positive charge
Penny has negative charge
Table of results:
No. of Pennies |
No. of nickels |

In conclusion as we can see, as we increase the number of coins, the voltage increases. Therefore we can see a positive relationship between them.
