ABOUT THIS SESSION:

Equity leaders are in a unique position to take the current crises and present community driven solutions that advance racial and health equity and justice… The path to equity runs straight through the community. There is exciting power behind collective community engagement. This collective power results in stronger systems, access to more ideas and solutions, more inclusive policies, and improved outcomes for all. It is important to recognize how we engage stakeholders in our work. In this session, you will learn what it takes to get your whole community involved in working together more efficiently and effectively to successfully combat poverty, hunger, and other complex challenges People together can be more powerful and strive to harness the power to address systematic inequities which haunt our communities and workspaces. In this session, we will examine how to manage collaborations, talk about trauma and resilience, how to identify arenas for change, and how to remain sane in the process.

Chief Equity Officer at NeighborHealth

ABOUT MIMI:

As Vice President and Chief Equity Officer, Mimi is responsible for engaging and partnering with agencies and leaders in our communities and throughout the Commonwealth to develop and drive a health-informed community equity agenda. In this role, Mimi will leverage NeighborHealth’s role as a leading health care provider to facilitate collaboration amongst NeighborHealth and multiple health and human service agencies, ensuring that the health center integrates community feedback into its strategic response to systemic and prevailing health equity gaps in our neighborhoods.

In her 30-plus year career in healthcare administration, Mimi has worked with underserved and marginalized populations and fought for health equity, anti-racism practices, and social justice both as a provider and a person of color in the executive ranks. Before coming to NeighborHealth, Mimi was the Chief Clinical Officer at Charles River Community Health Center, where she brought her equity experience to the forefront of clinical operations.
